The LA Queer Weekender is a queer-centered Latin dance festival that brings together LGBTQIA+ dancers and allies for a weekend focused on salsa, bachata, community, and celebration.

It is a specialty dance event designed to create an inclusive environment where people can learn, perform, socialize, and connect through Latin dance. The 2027 edition is scheduled to take place March 26–28, 2027, aboard the historic Queen Mary in Long Beach, California.

What the event is about

The Weekender was created to provide a welcoming space where LGBTQIA+ dancers can participate in Latin dance without the traditional gender-role expectations that are common in many salsa and bachata scenes.

Participants are encouraged to dance in whichever role they prefer—leader, follower, or both—and workshops often emphasize role-switching, inclusivity, and expression.
